This post has been so long overdue. I’m sitting here watching Shameless trying to finish this post that I have been trying to get out for months. Whoever said blogging was easy, has NO idea how long it can take just to get one post up!

When we first  moved into this house, we saw this small room on the side of the house that the owner told us was previously a sun room. The sun room had been covered up to add an extra room to the main level. When I first saw it, I had so many ideas. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with it, but I knew I could get creative.

After deciding that having extra sitting room would be not enough, I decided to make it both a sitting area and an office. I figured I would need a nice little office area, so we decided to get a desk with a matching chair, and a printer on one side of the room, while we decided on  a sitting area for the other side.

Since the room was still small and we wanted to make it a double use of space, the goal was to get small furniture. Things that weren’t too big so that the room wouldn’t look cluttered with furniture. The first thing I saw that I fell in love with was this big lavender accent chair at Home Goods. I honestly had NO idea what colors I wanted to do but when I saw this chair, I knew I HAD to make it work. The color was amazing!

I found a purple and gray rug by Safavieh that was lavender and grey so I decided that’s what I would use to bring everything together. We got this charcoal grey couch from Wayfair and made a small sitting area. I needed a (also small) coffee table to have in the middle without having something taking up too much space. Thank god for Safavieh because they make this adorable small gold mirrored coffee table that was the perfect size! The other side of the room needed a small desk, and I knew I wanted to continue with the gold of the coffee table. We found a white and gold writing desk and then Adam found the white and gold rolling chair that perfectly matched!home office reveal home office reveal home office reveal

I truly believe putting together the decor in a room can easily start with one focal color or accent piece. In this case, it was this chair I came across, that I couldn’t let go. It led my office/sitting room colors to be lavender, gray with gold accents. I recently filled the empty corner by the couch with a faux plant I also found on Home Goods. I linked some similar ones below! I can’t wait to update you guys with the walls of this room once I start hanging things up!

Such a cute and functional space! Where did you find the desk at? I’ve been searching for one for what feels like ages and love this one. I like the fact that there’s more drawers on the side instead of just the typical one or two on top.
